ISA Pickup-Temp Site

Hi New Comets,

Congrats on being admitted to the University of Texas at Dallas. You will soon be a part of the  Indian community here at UTD. To make your transition smooth, the volunteers at Indian Students' Association will be helping for your pickup and temporary accommodation here at UTD. In case you require either then please do fill out and submit the pickup/housing form available on the next page. Once your request is submitted and verified, we will send you a confirmation mail around 3-4 days prior to your time of arrival. Please make sure that the travel plans mentioned in the mail are correct and do inform us if there are any inconsistencies.

There are a few things you should keep in mind before you book your ticket/put up your request on the website:

1. As you probably know people coming to pick you up are generally working students who are free only on weekends or in the evenings. So, if you can, without sacrificing money, time, etc. and without putting yourself in any trouble, try to reach here on a WEEKEND, or the next best a week-day evening, it would be a great help to us. Arranging airport pickups and transportation is easier on weekends so please try to come here on weekends. BUT, remember, if you have informed the ISA of your travel plans, and we have promised to receive you, we will do that.

2. Please do not put up a request for pickup/accommodation on the website as a back up option. If you have friends/relatives in Dallas and they can help you with the pickup and can accommodate you for a couple of days then please do try to make arrangements of your own. You would in turn be helping us and fellow students who could probably take your spot. 

3. Please do not put up multiple requests. In case there is a change in your flight itinerary please inform us personally by dropping us a mail or by calling us. Also in case you miss your connecting flight or your flight gets delayed try your best to inform us by calling us up from the pay phones available at the aiport. Our contact information will be send to you in the last confirmation mail which you will recieve 3-5 days before your departure.

4. In case you get your visa late, please make sure you do inform us of your itinerary atleast 5 days prior to your arrival in Dallas so that we can make the necessary arrangements for your pickup and accommodation. We cannot guarantee pickup/temporary accommodation if you put up a request at the last moment. We recommend you put up a request as soon as your flight ticket has been finalized, so that we have sufficient time to make the necessary arrangements for your pickup and accommodation. Please do not put up a request unless your plans have been finalized and you have gotten your visa as it would be added work for us to update your itinerary in case of any changes in your travel plans. 

5. Please note it is not possible for us to identify in advance the person coming for the pickup/ the apartment where you will be staying so please refrain from sending us emails asking for either. ISA has a 100% pickup record so you need not worry if there will be anyone to recieve you at the airport. Just make sure that you send us the detailed itinerary along with the flight numbers and update us in case of any changes. It's always best to call up and let us know in case of any last minute changes.

6. Please do not put up fake requests. Your IP/email id is logged. Also please try to provide us with as much information as possible by filling out all the applicable fields in the form.

7. Requests are to be made separately. Do not put up a request for a friend from your own ID. We will not be making arrangements until we receive a request from the student personally.

If you face any problems in filling out or submitting the request form, post your questions on the forum. Any mails regarding this sent to any personal mail or google group just creates confusion and so will not be entertained.
